They should be commited to a suggested monthly support (minimum $50 USD), subject to financial capacity, and respect the non-legal, honorary nature of the relationship. If they are unable to continue, sponsors are encouraged to nominate a replacement to avoid disruption. 2. IDENTIFY A GIRL IN NEED The girl must be between 7 and 18 years, must resie inside Afghanistan and come from a low income and vulnerable family. She should demonstrate interest and potential for a academic growth. Sponsors may do so directly though their personal contacts in Afghanistan or seek the asignation of a girl through the Foundation by contacting: info@wasefbakhtari-foundation.com 3. ESTABLISH CONTACT The communication with a girl in Afghanistan usually works well via whatsapp, to which she may have access either directly or through a family member. If you don´t speak Persian you can use Google translate. 4. ASSESS HER NEEDS Assess what kind of support the girl needs. The support usually consists in paying the fees for private courses. Besides moral help and encouragement, a school girl also may need the financing of a mobile phone (about $30 USD) and/or a laptop and internet access (about $5 USD/month) to stay connected with the outer world and be able to follow online study programs. 5. BEGIN SUPPORT Deliver financial support. The fastest and cheapest way to transfer small amounts directly to the sponsored girl in Afghanistan is via Western Union. 6. TRACK PROGRESS By staying in communication with the girl, encourage her learning, personal development and creative expression. 7. SHARE STORIES (OPTIONAL) Help raise awareness through the Foundation’s official pages, while preserving the girl´s anonymity.
