OUR INSPIRATION: WASEF BAKHTARI

Wasef Bakhtari (b. 1943 – d. 2023) was one of Afghanistan’s most celebrated poets, intellectuals, and literary reformers. As a modernist, he revolutionized Persian poetry in Afghanistan by introducing the modern poatery blending traditional themes with modern forms. He was not only a literary innovator but also a powerful voice for education, justice, and cultural identity.

Bakhtari served in many roles during his lifetime: teacher, editor, political prisoner, immigrant, and cultural beacon. His legacy lives on in his writings and in the mission of this foundation.
